WHY SPONSOR US?

Founded in 1970 by a group of local rugby enthusiasts, the success of Currie Rugby Club is now legendary and an inspiration for other sports organisations to emulate. A combination of hard work and the dedication of players, coaches and a pro-active management committee have seen the club rise through the district and national leagues to the top of Scottish club rugby, winning the Championship title in 2006 and 2010.

As well as three senior and an under-18 yr. rugby team, Currie RFC is renowned for its youth development programme. Boys and girls of Primary and Secondary age levels are encouraged to take part in fitness training, ball skills and fun activities that promote healthy lifestyles in the community.

The club continues to improve and extending its excellent facilities and is in the process of constructing a new pitch for a thriving youth section that has over 250 members. A Rugby Academy has also been established; its vision and mission is to provide a platform for players of ability to progress to representative levels of the game. Currie RFC is proud to have produced many district and national players over the decades.

"My dad used to drag me along to Currie RFC from the age of 5, at that age I wasn’t sure I would ever enjoy or stick at Rugby! Before long I loved my Sundays spent at Malleny Park in all kinds of weather. I saw it as great fun and a chance to see all my friends. The coaches were always really motivating. Their direction and guidance fuelled my competitive nature and I was soon playing for Currie RFC 1st XV. The rest, as they say, is history! Thank goodness my dad persevered with encouraging me from the side line of the Mini’s pitch! I am still involved with Currie RFC and would recommend their Youth Programme to any youngster keen on sport and having fun! "

Our aim at Currie RFC is to promote fitness and sport, and to develop the game of rugby for the benefit of the community and beyond; particularly young people who need guidance and encouragement. The Club has loyal community support, but the pressures of time and money are having an adverse effect on all voluntary organisations. At Currie RFC it is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain the present level of sporting activity without increased financial support from those sympathetic to the aims of the rugby club.

We invite you to help secure the future of this community sports club, to join a proven winning team, and to ensure that the youth of today can enjoy sport and the game of rugby for years to come.
