MESSAGE FROM JOHN MUIR, PRESIDENT 2010-2011
It's hard to believe we are at the start of the new season again, hoping everyone is refreshed after the rather exhilarating last season with the excitement lasting well into May for our last game of the season when Currie entertained the Japanese select team at Malleny.
What a challenge for the coming season to build on the successes and achievements of last season: from the lst XV winning the league championship, the second time in 4 years; 2nds gaining promotion back into National Reserve league 1 and the 3rds winning promotion. The success did not stop there, the Colts won the U18 National Cup and the U15s became the first team at Currie to win a national cup, with their victory in February in the U15 National Cup, as well as winning the Edinburgh league. The S1 team went undefeated all season, including a victory against Bath and the Minis had many wins in their tournaments.
All of the success the club has had is due largely to you, the players, members, parents, coaches, volunteers and committee members who put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes and turn up in all weathers to support the teams.
This coming season offers fresh challenges for everybody associated with Currie. We must strive to keep this club going forward and this can only be done with the support and help from members and volunteers. Your help at any level would be greatly appreciated - as the club grows so does the work required to keep the club running. We are always looking for volunteers ranging from social convenor, helping on match days, players' teas at training nights, general maintenance around the clubhouse and many other jobs. If you are interested please contact me or one of the Committee members.
Stephanie Roxburgh is our new Membership Secretary and this year we have introduced the option of payment by D/D. All membership information is detailed in the above link to the membership application form. Please fill in your membership form as soon as possible and return it to the Membership Secretary or the clubhouse. Your application for international tickets should be returned with your membership form.
Let's all keep the momentum going and spread the word about Currie RFC as we go forward into our 40th anniversary year, drawing on our high held regard to attract good crowds and create atmosphere at our games and we look forward to as many of you participating as possible and welcome everyone to be part of the Currie RFC Community.
John T Muir
Club President
