President John Muir's message for Season 2011-2012
Welcome to a new exciting season of rugby for all levels from the World Cup in NZ to the minis at Malleny . That is what rugby should be about, to entertain and give pleasure from participation , volunteering, and watching.
This season we have the 1st XV in Premier one, Premier Cup, British and Irish Cup action. Colts, U16 & U15 will be playing in Edinburgh leagues as well as National Cup Competitions; S1 and S2 will continue with their development in rugby preparing themselves for future league campaigns. S1 will once again be off to France in September, representing Currie and Scotland in the annual Rodez tournament. Minis from P3 to P7 taking part in competitions all over Scotland and we mustn’t forget the Micros P1 and P2 under the coaching of Brian Porteous, starting on the road to playing the best team sport in the world.
Off the field we will be having social events ranging from a Sportsman’s Dinner, whisky tasting, Ne’erday gathering, Duck Race, Family BBQs, fundraising events for various age group teams wanting to tour, past players’ lunch, ladies’ lunch, travelling with the 1st XV to the B& I cup games in Leeds and Swansea. Or you and a few friends can book a table for lunch before a home game.
All of this means there is plenty going on in your club so make the most of it, enjoying rugby and all the friendships that are a spin off for our great sport.
Membership fees are once again due at this time of year so please fill out the forms and return to Stephanie your membership sec. as quickly as possible, the D/D is once again available for those who want to use it. It’s great value for money especially when you equate a family membership to 2 fills of petrol for the car.
When applying for international tickets please read the form carefully as there are major changes when applying for tickets for the home 6 nations’ games.
The management committee have been elected by you the membership, so if you have any questions or issues please feel free to speak to me or any member of the committee and we will do our utmost to answer your questions.
