LEAGUE RECONSTRUCTION

The League reconstruction for season 2010/11 for Premier Divisions 1 and 2 was approved at the recent SRU AGM. The 24 teams will now play each other team in their respective divisions once (home or away) during the period 21 Aug to 30 Oct.

Then there will be three pools formed comprising the top eight clubs in Premier Division 1, the bottom four clubs in Premier Division 1 and the top four in Premier Division 2, and the bottom eight in Premier Division 2.

Each team will then play the others in their pool once to determine promotion and relegation. Dates for matches in the second half of the season will be announced later and the website updated at that time.

PRE - SEASON GAMES

Pre-season games have been arranged for Saturday 7 August- away to Blaydon and on Friday 13 August the Club entertains London Scottsh at Malleny with a game at 7.30pm.

BRITISH & IRISH CUP

We welcome Cornish Pirates who won the Cup last season to Malleny Park on 11 December for our first game in the B & I Cup. This is followed by a further two home fixtures - Worcester Warriors on 18 December and Newport on 15 January. Our away fixtures follow - Leinster on 22 January and finally Plymouth Albion on 26 February. A real festival of top-quality rugby is in store for everyone during the season.

PREMIER CUP

Overall the Cup competition has retained it's three-tier format with the Shield and the Bowl remaining unchanged, however, a new Premier Cup structure, complete with a pool stage, will come into play in 2010/11.

The competing 36 teams from Premier 1, 2, and 3 have been drawn in nine pools of four with each team seeded according to the previous season's performance in league competition.

The top seven winners of the pools will go directly into the Cup quarter-finals while the bottom two winners will play off for eighth place, with the eight teams progressing to the knockout stages.

Cup Finals day at Murrayfield is on Saturday 16 April 2011.
